The Render Network Releases Public Support for Blender Cycles
After an extensive six-month Beta testing period with a cohort of accomplished artists, the Render Network is thrilled to publicly release support for Blender Cycles, bringing near unlimited high performance decentralized GPU rendering power to the leading open source 3D ecosystem’s GPU render engine of choice.
Previewed at the inaugural RenderCon, the integration of Cycles on the Render Network is a milestone in the implementation of RNP-014, which was passed by the Render Network community to support millions of users in the largest open source 3D ecosystem, Blender.
Support for Blender’s Cycles builds on efforts outlined in RNP-014 to provide open access to the Render Network’s near unlimited GPU cloud rendering power for the Blender ecosystem, advancing the democratization of 3D content creation through open, professional grade tools.
For the past year, Blender users have been able to access the Render Network without a subscription, and OTOY has made full Octane licenses available to all Blender artists, bringing the industry’s leading GPU path-tracing render engine to millions of Blender artists.
The integration of Blender Cycles expands the Render Network’s ongoing support of the Blender ecosystem, which along with OTOY, includes participating in Blender Development Fund as a Corporate Patron to support the sustainable development of Blender.
Blender Cycles now accompanies Maxon’s Redshift and OctaneRender on the Render Network to bring all of the industry-leading GPU render engines to the leading decentralized GPU computing platform — with support for Arnold Render coming to Beta testing later this spring.
In development is a Blender Wizard enabling native .blend file support on the Render Network, with a scene checker and push button access to high-performance GPU cloud rendering directly from the Blender interface.
Try Using Blender Cycles on the Render Network
Comprehensive documentation and educational resources for using Blender Cycles on the Render Network is available at the Render Network Knowledge Base.
As part of the release, Steven Scott from the Render Network team, who led implementation of Cycles on the Render Network, has also prepared a 20-part video tutorial series outlining key steps for optimizing your Blender workflow on Render.
Get Involved with Render Royale and Render Network Grants
As part of efforts to support creators in the Blender Ecosystem, the Render Network Foundation has introduced a year-long art competition — Render Royale — with up to $1750 in monthly prizes for artists submitting artworks using Cycles.
For artists, developers, and studios working on larger projects that leverage high-performance GPU cloud rendering at scale, the Render Foundation also has a Grant Program to support ambitious creative projects with access to compute credits.
Try the Blender Cycles integration today at https://render.x.io/ and for any support, please visit the Render Knowledge Base, submit a HelpDesk ticket or get real time support available in a Live Chat directly within the Render portal.
