RNP-016, RNP-017, and RNP-018 Approved by Render Community

Last week, RNP-016, RNP-017, and RNP-018 officially passed final Render Network final community voting and are now approved for implementation on the Render Network’s roadmap for 2025.
The passing of the RNPs enables the Render Network to support a wider range of users and stakeholders in the new year. Let’s dive in to each RNP:
RNP-016: Arnold Render Integration
The proposal outlines a plan to integrate Arnold Render, one of the leading GPU render engines widely used in the film and TV visual effects, into the Render Network. With the integration, Render would extend multi-render workflow support across the leading production GPU render engines — including Octane, Redshift, Cycles, and Arnold Render — giving artists have flexibility to frictionlessly mix and match rendering tools on the Render Network to meet a project’s technical and aesthetic needs.
The addition of Arnold is a significant milestone because it helps the network expand support for the workflows of large production houses and visual effects studios. Arnold is known for its use in numerous high-profile films from Blade Runner: 2049, Star Wars, and Guardians of the Galaxy due to its ability to handle massive datasets and complex scenes. This integration will also target its extensive user base — from Maya and Houdini users to those in Cinema 4D and Katana pipelines — providing them with the flexibility to render using Arnold in a decentralized network setting.
Arnold is also a good fit for leveraging the Render Network’s parallelized rendering architecture through file formats that enable scaling jobs across a decentralized network. Arnold can render .ass (Arnold Scene Source) and .usd (Universal Scene Description) files directly using the Arnold SDK without the need for a content creation app like Maya in the middle. Similar to the ORBX interchange format, these file types enable scenes to be sent across the network with few local hardware dependencies.
Finally, adding Arnold to the Render Network expands decentralization by supporting a wider range of workflows and creators with access to top-tier rendering capabilities without the need for in-house resources. Read the RNP for more details on the implementation process — that ranges from initial stages of local development and testing to closed and open betas, and finally, stable production releases.
RNP-017: OctaneRender for Blender Integration
RNP-017 expands on support for Blender passed in RNP-014, which proposed integration of Blender Cycles on the Render Network and the creation of a Render Network Blender Wizard to streamline access to the network. The RNP introduces a specialized build of Blender pre-configured with OctaneRender as a plug-in that integrates seamlessly with the Render Network to ensure optimal stability and performance for artists.
This development will provide millions of artists in the Blender ecosystem frictionless access to near unlimited on-demand high-performance GPU cloud rendering. By integrating Blender with a deep level of support — similar to Cinema 4D and Octane — the Render Network enhances its decentralized vendor-neutral position, ensuring artists can choose the best tool for their specific needs without preference of any one vendor.
Finally, RNP-017 builds on a deep level of support for the Blender ecosystem over the past year, including making access to the Render Network and Octane for Blender free for all Blender users — giving millions of artists from the largest 3D ecosystem open access to high performance rendering tools that can help them push new creative boundaries.
As part of stewardship with the Blender ecosystem this fall, the Render Network artist team visited #BCON24 interfacing with the Blender artist and developer ecosystem, personally onboarding them to using the Render Network as well as introducing them to the Cycles beta integration.

RNP-018: Year 2 BME Emissions Allocation
The proposal outlines the budget for Year 2 BME Emissions and Render Foundation funding, focusing on initiatives to grow the network. Highlights include increasing Artist Rewards and launching a new AI Scout program to support advancements in decentralized AI, DePIN, and generative AI applications, and finally, a recap of Render Foundation and Render community milestones in 2024, including:
- 8 RNPs passed in 2024
- Nearly tripled 2023 on-chain network usage (to date)
- Funded 93 Artist Grants
- Paid out 1.14M of RENDER upgrade rewards
- Upgraded 367M RENDER tokens from Ethereum (RNDR) to Solana (RENDER)
- Brought several Compute Clients to the Render Network
- Implemented systems to support Network and Foundation Operations
- Expanded information channels including: educational videos, weekly spaces, website updates to the Render Network and Render Foundation
- Launched a number of promotional campaigns designed to increase access to the network

- Presented at Solana Breakpoint in Singapore
- Presented at Tech Forum Argentina
- Big presence at Art Basel, Miami
