Ecosystem metrics

The Render Network Foundation tracks various metrics on its network. Below is the aggregate view of the month’s activity, previous month’s activity, and month-over-month change for a few key metrics. Much of this information is found at stats.renderfoundation.com.

For June we added cost and energy usage metrics for the Foundation rendering node.

Glossary

Frames rendered — number of frames rendered by the network.

Burns — the USDC equivalent of RENDER tokens burned on the network. Additional burn and mint data and details of the burn and mint equilibrium model (BME).

Emissions — RENDER tokens minted for the month per the emissions schedule for BME.

Rewards to Foundation rendering node (RENDER) — RENDER token rewards issued, both for rendering jobs and availability, to the rendering node operated on behalf of the Foundation. The Foundation’s rendering node Solana wallet address is: AAHwFzKj8U1E7JyNBz2v561eXCz41Uv123xzjAYo3GdT

Foundation rendering node cost to operate (USD) — Cost, in USD, of running the Foundation rendering node in its geographic location. The price of running a node on the Render Network varies depending on geography, local energy market, local utility service and other factors.

Foundation rendering node kilo-watt hours (kWh) — Amount of energy consumed by the Foundation rendering node during the reported period.

Rewards for jobs — rewards sent, in RENDER tokens, to render node operators on the network whose machines were used to complete rendering jobs. Rewards are issued by epoch, which occur weekly.

Rewards for availability — rewards sent, in RENDER tokens, to render node operators who made their machines available to the network. Rewards are issued by epoch, which occur weekly.

Total rewards to nodes — the sum of rewards sent to render node operators for rendering and availability.

Governance updates

RNP-019 — Render Compute Network node operators identified

The new Render Compute Network, specifically optimized for AI workloads including inferencing, offline and edge machine learning, is getting closer to launch. We plan to soon start onboarding customers developing agentic platforms, compliance-first workflows, and more.

On the GPU node operators side of the compute network, hundreds of applications were received via the compute network waitlist. A benchmark test measuring the specs of each applicant’s machine and an upload and download speed test were part of the submission requirements.

Out of the hundreds of submissions received, we have identified the first 100 node operators for our test cohort and have reached out to them letting them know we’ll be starting to onboard soon. Selection of the first cohort was made based on machine specs, upload and download speed test results, and location. Along with the first customers on the network, this cohort of node operators will be instrumental in helping us test the network across an array of criteria.

On the customer onboarding side, the product and engineering teams have been making progress. They’ve migrated the setup from the previous test environment to the production environment and begun preparing it for onboarding the first customers.

RNP-018: Year 2 of BME emissions allocations to be maintained

As set out in previous RNPs, the foundation shall, on a regular basis, review and report the allocations of the BME (burn and mint equilibrium) model and make recommendations on maintaining or revising allocations.

Emission allocations for year 2 of the model were detailed in RNP-018. We’re approximately halfway through year 2. The foundation is constantly monitoring the state of the network across usage and potential new opportunities. The allocations of RNP-018 continue to align with stated growth strategy and trends we are observing in network use.

At any point, changes may be recommended by the community and even the foundation based on various factors including substantial changes to network usage or opportunities with a high likelihood of impacting network usage. The foundation team will continue to monitor these factors on a regular basis and report these to the community.

Emissions overview, 2025 mid-year check-in

Since its inception in 2023, the Render Network Foundation has focused on driving brand awareness, community engagement, and increased usage of the network — efforts that began to take shape in 2024 and continue to accelerate in 2025. These initiatives are funded through emissions allocated to foundation operations.

2025 growth initiatives

A flagship initiative this year was RenderCon 2025, the first-ever Render Network user conference, which brought together artists, developers, node operators, and ecosystem partners to focus on decentralized compute and foster deeper engagement with existing as well as future participants.

Building on that momentum, the Foundation has expanded its business development and brand-building initiatives, including thought leadership campaigns, strategic sponsorships, community-driven activations, and investment in prospective partners of the network.

A major focus in 2025 has been the development and launch of the Render Compute Network, introduced via RNP-019. While earlier RNPs explored decentralized compute for AI and general compute workloads, they arrived ahead of market demand. With the surge in generative AI application development in late 2024, the Foundation assembled internal resources to revisit the opportunity, resulting in the proposal and community approval of the standalone Render Compute Network, dedicated to AI and general compute. This marks the first time the Render Network has launched a new, dedicated network since its inception.

Specifically, to support the Render Compute Network’s growth, the foundation operations emissions are being directed toward:

  • The Render Compute Network’s rewards program
  • The Render Compute Network’s marketing launch efforts
  • Compute network business development activities
  • Research and development efforts
  • Partnerships and investments in builders who could drive usage such as Manifest Network and Jember, as well as THINK Agents
  • Brand awareness marketing and communication initiatives
  • Support operations (administrative, accounting, compliance, legal, people operations)

Highlights include targeted sponsorships, such as the Permissionless 2025 conference in New York City in June, where the foundation sponsored the DePIN track and a DePIN + AI themed happy hour. Our presence in New York City for Permissionless led to the Render Network Foundation and related partners participating in three panels on decentralized AI (more details on that below). These events help expose the Render Network to prospective builders across the rendering, blockchain, and AI compute ecosystems.

Later in the year we hope to announce an extended partnership with a leading voice in the 3D motion creative space whose audience can help us drive increased awareness and trial of the Render Network. Our goal is to partner with power users via dedicated content that includes tutorials specifically designed for 3D creators and VFX studios.

Team expansion to drive momentum in 2025 and beyond

The Foundation has also expanded its team in the first half of 2025 to execute on these goals, with new hires and internal promotions across business development, marketing, and operations. We are also happy to announce the addition of a Node Operator Liaison to the Render Network Foundation to help us grow both the rendering and compute networks by working closely with node operators (see more details about this role under the Announcements section below).

Reinvesting emissions to support the long-term vision

The BME (burn and mint equilibrium model) of the Render Network is designed to ensure resources that drive ecosystem and category growth are available for future growth needs. Emissions are front-loaded, meaning more emissions are issued at the beginning of the model, with emissions declining over time. In year two, for example, emissions drop by 35%. In year three, emissions drop by 23%. By year four, emissions drop by 12%. And so on.

Any emissions not used during the month they’re emitted are retained for future initiatives. Emissions not used, in other words, are saved — they do not go to waste.

Monthly emissions allocated to foundation operations that do not end up being used in that month — whether for administrative operations, growth initiatives, or grants — are maintained in the foundation’s treasury to support future growth initiatives. Likewise, network emissions not used to fulfill rendering or compute jobs are similarly retained and can be used to fund future Render Network Proposals (RNPs).

By redirecting unused emissions back into a pool of reserves, token-based funding for growth initiatives can be deployed strategically to support the long-term development of the network. A larger portion of unused funds being redirected to the treasury is going to be more notable in the first few years of the model given that emissions are highest in the beginning and decline over time. In other words, a larger portion of emissions in the first few years are more likely to be retained for future growth initiatives as there will be fewer emissions in later years to use for growth initiatives. This reserve will not just help fund future growth initiatives. It will also help fund future node operator jobs as usage grows.

Building decentralized compute as a viable alternative to the centralized status quo is estimated to be a years-long if not decades-long effort. Driving awareness, trial, and ultimately sustained adoption of this new paradigm has a higher chance of success with strategic, thoughtful, and sustained effort over that timeframe.

Product updates

This month’s key product updates represent continued movement towards a nearly all-in-one solution for 3D rendering needs serving artists and creators. From a feature that accelerates AI-powered generative image-to-video to a powerful option for more efficient, real-time workflows for high-fidelity assets, creators and artists can continue to benefit from cost-effective distributed compute while accessing useful features and tools.

Runway Gen 4 Turbo
The new Gen-4 Turbo release accelerates image-to-video generation with enhanced visual consistency and motion realism. By leveraging the Render Network’s distributed GPU power, artists can produce cinematic-quality AI video outputs faster than ever, scaling creative workflows seamlessly from ideation to final animation. Combined with the Render Network, you can offload heavy renders at any stage, keeping projects agile and outputs cloud-accessible when you need them most.

Gaussian Splats tutorials
Gaussian Splats are a new way to capture and display real-world scenes as 3D assets, using thousands and even millions of small point-based blobs (splats) that store color, depth, and shape data directly from image source data or 3D models. Unlike traditional 3D models that require manual modeling and texturing, splats can quickly recreate complex, photorealistic scenes with minimal processing time. This technique makes it significantly faster and easier to bring real-world objects and environments into 3D workflows, reducing both creation time and technical overhead compared to building assets from scratch.

The newest tutorials showcase how to build splat-based assets and environments with Octane and seamlessly leverage the Render Network to process massive splat data sets and streams, enabling high-fidelity scene development and training at scale for your creative and commercial projects. Permissionless IV DePIN track and DePIN x AI happy hour sponsorship

The Render Network Foundation attended Permissionless IV in New York City on June 24–26, 2025. In a first, the foundation sponsored the DePIN track which consisted of well-curated panels with representatives from Helium, Beacon Protocol, CrunchDAO, Nous Research, Wayru, Pipe Network, IoTeX, Crucible Capital, and Glow, among others.

On day one of Permissionless, Render Network Foundation member of the board of directors, Trevor Harries-Jones, shared his insights on the DePIN and AI Confluence panel where he talked about the real world use case of how rendering across decentralized compute network will pick up momentum with the growth of generative AI.

In conjunction with Permissionless, the Render Network made a strong appearance on June 25th across two panels at DeAI Day. The panel titled Making Decentralized AI Invisible: When Users Don’t Need to Know It’s Decentralized featured Paul Roales from Render Network partner RenderLabs, making the case for how complex infrastructure can be translated into accessible concepts that focus on real world value.

The second panel, DeAI Needs a Front End: Building Products Real People Can Use, featured Render Network Foundation board member Trevor Harries-Jones who shared how the rendering use case has given our ecosystem valuable insights that we can immediately apply as builders seek to add value to their own customers without the friction of burdening them with the underlying infrastructure that makes decentralized services, and related value-accrual, possible.

New Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner product launch, powered by the Render Network

As covered in Ads of the World, Sterling Brands hired motion design studio OddBeast turned to the Render Network to meet the ambitious launch of a new product line for iRobot’s Roomba, the much-beloved robotic vacuum cleaner. With no photographs yet available for the new product line, the studio was tasked with rendering a large volume of high-end CGI assets under tight deadlines.

By leveraging the Render Network’s decentralized compute power, the studio gained access to scalable, high-performance rendering capacity that was both fast and affordable — critical for delivering over 20 premium videos and 500+ photoreal images that showcased the product’s capabilities and features without sacrificing visual fidelity. This approach enabled OddBeast to efficiently handle the heavy workload while maintaining creative quality, proving the value of decentralized rendering for real-world production at scale.

TheStreet highlights Render Network as top AI infrastructure

TheStreet, a premier financial markets media publication, featured the Render Network as one of three blockchain-powered protocols transforming AI infrastructure. The article highlights how decentralized networks are building new models for funding, designing, and building for an AI future.

Render Network at Motion Plus Design in New York

Phil Gara from OTOY, the leading Render Network partner, took the stage at the curated motion design festival to introduce the Render Network to the crowd of motion designers in attendance at the one-day event on June 14th, 2025. He shared workflow tools and features that artists can access directly on the Render Network to make their motion design work easy, fast, and affordable. His presentation showcased standout projects, from immersive 16K domes to Zedd’s Coachella visuals and the latest HOLOSPHERE experience rendered entirely on the Render Network.

Render Royale — the Premier Monthly 3D Contest — June recap

The June edition of Render Royale closed out the contest’s first season with some spectacular work. From futuristic visions of LA to nature reclaiming its rightful place in the world, exceptional artists from around the world joined our monthly rendering contest.

Using Octane Render, Redshift, and Blender Cycles on render.x.io to create their pieces, the Render Network has helped bring to life many original artistic visions.

For the contest, users can create scenes that relate to the monthly theme, then render on the Render Network to qualify. More details at renderfoundation.com/royale. The second season of the contest starts in July.

Introducing our latest team addition: Node Operator Liaison

To help us onboard and maintain relationships with node operators on both the existing rendering network and the newly approved Render Compute Network, we’re pleased to welcome Mathis Lesieur as Node Operator Liaison at the Render Network Foundation.

In his new role, Mathis will oversee all aspects involved in working with node operators on our network, including:

  • Community moderation, node operator relations, and technical support
  • Technical documentation and educational resource development
  • Community feedback collection and implementation where practicable
  • Project management of node-related implementations

This investment in critical talent will help us grow and manage the network of distributed node operators around the world serving rendering jobs while simultaneously building the new compute-oriented network approved under RNP-019.

SPYDERS + WarnerBros and DC + Render Network = Superman teasers
Amund and Jack from SPYDERS, a creative marketing studio that blends film, photography, and CGI to craft content, recently collaborated with WarnerBros and DC to produce viral social marketing content, all rendered on the Render Network. By compositing CGI elements into real world video, the marketing videos have garnered millions of views across social media. The campaign included “sightings” of the Superman symbol all across the world:

Render Royale: The Premier Monthly 3D Contest, July 2025 Edition

Now in its third month, Render Royale, the contest for artists/creators to submit their best work using Redshift, OctaneRender, or Blender Cycles on the Render Network, has yielded inspiring works of art. Each month features a different theme and a new chance to win. July’s theme is Retro Sci-Fi.

One winner per rendering engine will be selected each month. Winners take home USDC prizes and get their work featured as part of a global showcase of great work.

Submissions for this month are open until July 25th.
